There Ain’t No Rules Here

March 21st, 2010 by Myrhaf · 1 Comment · Uncategorized

Rep. Alcee Hastings speaks:

There ain’t no rules here, we’re trying to accomplish something….All this talk about rules…. When the deal goes down… we make ’em up as we go along.

Drew M. reacts:

“A government of laws and not of men”-Stuff John Adams actually wrote.

234 years is a good run by any standard. Now, as with all things, it comes to an end.

Or as Jennifer Rubin puts it,

This is the talk of tyranny.

When you’re trying to accomplish something, the rules don’t matter — or to put it another way, the end justifies the means. In practice it means that the whims of those in power are law.

Would the Democrats and their media allies be fine with the Republicans deeming Obamacare repealed without any regard to rules of procedure? Somehow I doubt it.

I feel that if this bill passes we will be living through a turning point in American history. Atlas Shrugged is playing out before our very eyes. I think that the forces of good are too weak to stop the Leftist assault. The Left has altruism as its ultimate weapon and noone will challenge it other than Objectivists and of course we’re “strange” and loony and we eat babies for breakfast, etc..

I don’t look forward to getting old in our new socialist America and dying on a waiting list.
