A Pass for Kevin Clinesmith: the FBI attorney who lied and falsified evidence that served as a predicate for FISA surveillance of a private citizen (plus all the people he interacted with) got 12 months probation, no disbarment, and $100 fine. This contrasts mightily with General Michael Flynn, who plead guilty to lying to federal agents (who didn’t at the time think he was lying) and couldn’t get his case dismissed by a nakedly-partisan judge when the Justice Department asked for dismissal. The moral is clear: the victims of federal persecution get injustices piled on while the perpetrators go unpunished, lightly punished, or rewarded.
